GMAC Insurance offers quality insurance products
and services to consumers and businesses worldwide.
Conducted through GMAC Insurance Holdings, Inc.,
GMAC Insurance is divided into two major divisions:
the Personal Lines Group and the Motors Insurance
Group.
Through its Personal Lines Group, GMAC Insurance
is among the United States' largest auto insurance
companies. It offers auto and home insurance
through multiple channels: independent insurance
agents, direct mail, telephone and the internet.
Personal Lines also provides customized services
to select groups, including GM employees, membership
groups and associations. In addition, it offers
selected commercial vehicle insurance coverages.
Motors Insurance Corporation (MIC) and the
MIC Group of companies underwrite a variety
of products under the GMAC Insurance brand name.
One of the world's largest providers of automotive
vehicle service and maintenance contracts, GMAC
Insurance offers vehicle owners and lessees
mechanical repair protection and extended roadside
assistance beyond the manufacturer's warranty.
In 2003, GMAC Insurance celebrates its 30th
anniversary in this marketplace.
MIC's principal mechanical protection products
are sold in the U.S. and Canada under two umbrella
programs: the GM Protection Plan for GM vehicles
and MRP (Mechanical Repair Protection) for non-GM
used vehicles sold by GM dealers. A variety
of additional mechanical protection products
and services are marketed to alternative audiences
and distribution channels through MIC's Specialty
Markets & Products group.
GMAC RE, another division of MIC, offers dealer
inventory insurance and property/casualty reinsurance
programs. MIC also does business internationally
through a variety of wholly owned companies
offering auto insurance and mechanical protection
programs, including Car Care Plan and Motors
Insurance Company Limited in the U.K. and ABA
Seguros in Mexico.
