About General Motors Baltimore Operations: Highly Green and environmentally friendly. We continue to be Land fill free, recycling 100% of our waste. The campus is powered in part by a 1.23 megawatt rooftop solar array, generating about 9 percent of our annual energy consumption. Also, a certified Wildlife Habitat resides on plant property promoting native to Maryland flora and fauna.

Investments

  • January 2010 - $111 million for building addition and process equipment to build high-volume global rear-drive electric motors
  • April 2010 - $23.5 million for additional production of vehicle electrification components

Awards

  • June 2012 – GMBO was among the winners of the Maryland Green Registry Leadership Awards. We are the only manufacturing facility that has won it twice since they started the award in 2010. The award recognizes organizations that have shown a strong commitment to sustainable practices that achieve measureable results.
  • November 2011 - GMBO earned the Wildlife Habitat Council certification for creating and enhancing a wildlife habitat on their grounds.
  • April 2011 – GMBO was named 1st Place Winner in Baltimore Business Journal's Annual Green Business Awards event.  The event is held annually to recognize those companies who have gone the extra mile to make the Baltimore Metropolitan area a cleaner, greener environment to live and work in.
