GM Expands Global Battery System Laboratory

General Motors announces Monday, September 16, 2013, it has expanded its Global Battery Systems Laboratory in Warren, Michigan, where it tests and validates both battery cells and packs for all of GM’s vehicle electrification systems, including the battery systems for the Chevrolet Volt, Cadillac ELR, Chevrolet Spark EV and GM’s eAssist light electrification system. The expanded lab features dedicated equipment for future vehicle battery system development, building of prototype battery packs for vehicle development programs, and a hub for validation and testing of all future battery systems designed for use in GM vehicles.
