Chevrolet Drives The Thrill Of Racing Into Fort Worth

Chevy Thunder in the Sundance Square--We'll Be There

DALLAS - The thunder, the hunger and the action of Chevrolet racing roars into downtown Fort Worth as Chevy Thunder in Sundance Square rolls April 5 and 6. Chevy Thunder in Sundance Square gives race fans and families the opportunity to enjoy family entertainment and racing fun combined in one street festival. The event is open to the public and has no admission charge.

Featuring live music, NASCAR drivers, interactive games, show cars, racing simulators, contests, food games and merchandise, Chevy Thunder in Sundance Square brings racing action from the track to the streets for all to enjoy. The event includes activities for all ages and music from some of today's hottest country stars.

Chevrolet is proud to bring NASCAR Winston Cup Series drivers Michael Waltrip, Steve Park and Mike Skinner to Chevy Thunder in Sundance Square. NASCAR Busch Series drivers Jack Sprague, Kenny Wallace, Ricky Hendrick, Ron Hornaday and Larry Foyt will also be making appearances during the event. All drivers will greet the public.

Like Chevy Thunder in Sundance Square, admission to all of event's exhibits and shows is free. The exhibits will be open throughout the festival: April 5, from noon to 11 p.m.; and April 6, from 3 to 11 p.m.

Chevy Thunder in Sundance Square features music from some of the hottest names in country music today. The Saturday main stage line-up includes headliner Darryl Worley, known for his songs "When You Need My Love," "Second Wind," and "I Miss My Friend." Also appearing are Kevin Denney with his hit "Just Jesse," and Cyndi Thomson, known for her hit "What I Really Meant to Say." Trini Triggs, singing his hit, "Horse to Mexico," and the Ben Adkins Band will also take the stage. A special acoustic set will feature Chris Cagle with his chart-toppers, "My Love Goes On and On," "Laredo," and "I Breathe In, I Breathe Out."

Chevrolet's Team Monte Carlo Thunder Tour, an interactive and entertaining collection of exhibits and attractions celebrating Monte Carlo's NASCAR Winston Cup racing success, will deliver the thunder behind Chevy Thunder in Sundance Square. Visitors to the Thunder Tour pavilion can get an up-close-and-personal look at the stars of NASCAR racing: thundering Monte Carlos, including #24, 2001 Winston Cup Champion Jeff Gordon's Dupont Monte Carlo. Another entertaining attraction is the Thunder Tour Mini-Theatre which features an exciting video celebrating the fact that Chevrolet has won more races than any other manufacturer in NASCAR's modern era, and that Monte Carlo is the winningest car in Winston Cup history.

The Team Monte Carlo Thunder Tour also features an exciting and challenging interactive game that simulates a NASCAR Winston Cup race, as well as fascinating displays profiling current Chevy Team Monte Carlo Winston Cup drivers and retracing Chevrolet's racing heritage.

Chevrolet is also proud to showcase America's favorite sports car, the Chevrolet Corvette, during Chevy Thunder in the Stockyards. The specialty Corvette tour display will feature vintage Corvettes and show engines designed to put the thrill in driving. The display will take sports cars fans through Corvette's amazing heritage and highlight why the Corvette holds a place of honor in the automobile world.

Corvettes are certainly fast, but few vehicles can top the speed of the Dark Knight's car of choice, the Batmobile. While Batman is off battling villains, the Batmobile is parked at Chevy Thunder in Sundance Square for everyone to enjoy. With self-sealing tires, a bulletproof shell and a mobile crime lab, this black beauty also features a combination of cutting-edge technology with attentive personal service-OnStar.

For junior race fans, the event includes a complete children's area hosted by Radio Disney AM 620. The area will host special appearances by Miss Jessie, the Oak Brook Boys, God's Country Kids and much more.

The Home Depot Tour, featuring the No. 20 Pontiac driven by Tony Stewart, adds the excitement of Pontiac racing to Chevy Thunder in Sundance Square. The Home Depot tour will host a special appearance by Stewart's pit crew on Friday evening. Other interactive displays to enjoy include the Echo Tech Tour, the Vortec Tour, the Chevy Soccer Tour, and Pontiac tours including the Pontiac NASCAR trailer.

On Saturday afternoon, Chevrolet is proud to present Miss Texas 2001, Stacy James. Relying on Chevrolet as her official vehicle, Miss Texas will be joining Chevrolet for the fun of Chevy Thunder in Sundance. Miss Texas will be making a special appearance on the event's main stage and will be greeting fans in the Thunder Tour.
