Motors Corp. honored 165 companies from 20 countries at its ninth annual
Supplier of the Year program Saturday in Washington, D.C. The global
companies were recognized for superior performance in support of General
Motors throughout 2000.
"These suppliers provide exceptional levels of quality,
service and technological innovations at competitive cost levels the
ingredients necessary for auto manufacturers and suppliers to win in a very
competitive marketplace," said Bo Andersson, executive in charge of
Worldwide Purchasing. "GM is striving to establish the industrys most
productive customer-supplier relationships. These suppliers represent the best
of the best, and they have set an example in the past year for other companies
to follow."
The GM Supplier of the Year program began in 1992.
Award-winners are selected by a global team of executives from purchasing,
engineering, manufacturing and logistics who base their decisions on total
supplier performance in the areas of quality, service, technology and price.
During this years ceremonies, six suppliers received the
award for the ninth consecutive year. They are; ArvinMeritor Wheels Division
of Brasil; Mann+Hummel of Germany; Niagara Machine Products of Canada; Edag
Engineering u.Design AG of Germany; LUK GmbH & Co. of Germany; and Magee
Rieter Automotive Systems of the United States.
